We are not above nature...

I usually try not to rant, but I can't help it this time.  I was Performing at a "Save the Owls" benefit.... where a bunch of rich people get together for $1000 a plate and act like they can control nature.  Now, I'm all for saving things that need to be saved.  However, all they talked about the entire night was how "Majestic" and "Beautiful" the animal was... Not ONCE did they mention WHY we actually NEED these things on the planet...and it's because there isn't a reason, other than the fact that rich people think they're pretty.

Why is it that we only try and save the "cute" things?  You'll never see a bunch of rich people throwing a "Save the Spiders" benefit, even though they are invaluable to the ecosystem.  You won't see it because they're ugly.  They'd rather spend they're time saving an owl that does F**K all, but looks cute.

It's a great reflection of our society - the fact that "Cute and Useless" is more valuable than "Ugly and Hardworking".  I'm a big believer in evolution, survival of the fittest, natural selection, etc... a.k.a. "Nature".  If a species is going extinct it's because nature doesn't need them anymore, and humans will be phased out eventually as well.  Nature is one big "employer", expanding and downsizing at the exact same time.

The arrogance that we think we can choose what should stay and what should go is mind-boggling to me.  They'll save the cute things, even if they're DANGEROUS.  Polar bears!  They are cute, interesting, beautiful and will RIP YOUR HEAD OFF if given the chance.  They're one of the most aggressive creatures on the planet -  Yeah it's sad to see one drowning in the Arctic, but there's a reason the guy shooting that footage DIDN'T help the bear....it would have KILLED HIM.  It doesn't care who you are and how much you want to help it.   You could be the biggest Polar Bear activist in the world - throwing benefits by day and touching yourself to Coca-Cola ads at night, and if you came face to face with a Polar Bear, 10 times out of 10 it will DESTROY you!... "But they're so cute in the Soda ads" - give it a Coke bottle...It'll bust it on the bar and jam it in your NECK, it doesn't CARE!  Don't save anything that wouldn't save you - or at least try to save the things that wouldn't KILL you.

We're going to "Save Ourselves" right into extinction if we're not careful... CHIMPS! - another good example... how many specials do we have to see with people talking behind shrouds before we realize these things are DANGEROUS?!  Yeah they're cute... but we don't need them... Evolution - WE are the NEW CHIMPS!  They didn't make it over the hump, sorry, but that's nature.  However, instead of just letting nature take it's course, we have to try and drag it along with us...teaching them sign language, just waiting for them to get ahold of some Chemicals, Learn how to talk, then enslave the human race!  And that'll be our fault for thinking we were above nature.

You saw the movie...when the roles were reversed they ENSLAVED us! On the other hand - yes I know that Zoo's exist, but it's not manual labor, they just have to sit there and "Be a Monkey".  It's not like we're throwing them into factories to make Nike Shoes and iPhones.

I just wish people would stop wasting resources trying to control what can't be controlled - We are part of nature, we're not above it.

Golden Globes..... "be cooool...."

My night at the Golden Globes was a blast! I had a great time wandering around - on the "regular side" of the guest line lol. I "wandered" a lot to see how far I could get.... they have people looking out for that... apparently I'm not the first person to think of this. Sorry I don't have a lot of celeb stories to share - but I do have a couple sightings that I'd like to talk about (hopefully I can do this without getting in trouble)

I was outside the backstage area (wandering around) and I was trying to sneak through, to the "celebrity side" of the room, with a couple of audio people - as I was waiting I turned around and saw Robert Downy Jr! - gave him the "eyebrows up/head tilt" action. Once again, under instructions not to talk to them, (and what would I say anyway?)... but I was considering it - As I was thinking of a cool thing to say Brad Pitt came from around me and started playfully wrestling with RDJ! I immediately threw my hand out for an opportunity to be tagged in. I'll wrestle Iron Man and fight Tyler Durton! (I'd have a much more interesting story to tell I'm sure)

Along with Brad was Angelina Jolie! - I mention her now, because it took me a minute to realize it was her. She's not really that breathtaking in person, in fact I had to look several times before I realized it was her. I was more awestruck by Brad Pitt. I remember seeing them and saying to myself - "Holy Crap you're Brad Pitt!.... and you're a lady in a green dress standing next to BRAD PITT!!!"

After they all got done catching up - talking about things that I'm not allowed to post....yet ;) They headed back to their tables - Since I was dressed in a suit, and 18 inches taller than anyone in the room, I thought I might be able to pass for security and tag along to the "cool side" of the room, failed... but I think if I had one of those ear pieces I could've gotten away with it ;)

As I turned around from the barracade to wander some more - I ran my hip into what I could swear was a granite counter top.... It was Sly Stallones shoulder!! - I said "Excuse me", he said "Watch it big guy." Rocky called me "Big Guy!" - cool moment for me....

However, the BEST moment happened as I was leaving the backstage area... and I got to see Justin Bieber.....FALL DOWN A FLIGHT OF STEPS!!! - It was only 3 or 4 steps but he ATE IT and then TEARED UP!! This is the only shot I was able to get - since everyone was in a "No Photography" zone - but it's him pulling his pants up after falling and.... if you could see his face....he was crying!

So that's all that I can share right now - I'll try and get some more tales up soon! - I just found out that I'm also going to the ACADAMY AWARDS - so I'll do my best to keep cool while wandering around that show as well! - hope this blog doesn't keep me out of it lol

Dec. 8th vs Dec. 7th

Spoiler Alert! - this one is gonna be kinda rough

Every year, around this time, a friend of mine from college calls me . His Birthday is Dec. 7th and mine is Dec. 8th. So every year I call him on Dec. 7th and wish him a happy Pearl Harbor Day and he wishes me a happy John Lennon Assassination Day...

Now - I got into a debate over which day resinates the most in history...

Mathmatically Pearl Harbor is the Bigger Tragedy due to the number of casulties - I completely understand that... but taking the "number" of deaths out of it and just labeling them as "Days in which Death occurred" - I've been doing a basic survey over the last couple weeks. Result - more people believe that John Lennon's assassination is more tragic than Pearl Harbor.

I find this to be fascinating - the deciding factor comes down to a "pros/cons" list. The Pearl Harbor "Cons" are obvious - Not that there were many "pros" but most people feel as though if Pearl Harbor hadn't happened - America wouldn't have gotten involved in WWII and our country wouldn't be where it is today... that is a point listed in the "pros" column.

Which, at this point, is already 1 more "pro" than anyone could come up with for John Lennons assassination. Based on my research people see nothing but "Con's" when it comes to the death of John Lennon.

Putting this data into perspective I interviewed 50 random people on the street (that were old enough to have knowledge of both events) and asked them - "If you had a time machine, and were able to go back and stop either Pearl Harbor or the Assassination of John Lennon - which would you stop?"

Results:
Pearl Harbor - 14
Lennon Assas.- 36

Not sure what this means as it pertains to society - I don't know if this is interesting, or if I'm just telling people something they already know. What do you think?

P.S. Interview footage coming soon

Heading West

I'm not sure how blogging is supposed to work.... is it something that I should be appealing to a lot of people with or is this some sort of therapy? Oh well - I'll be officially re-locating to L.A. on Nov. 14th. I'm very excited about this - hopefully I don't get into too much trouble.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what else to say - that's all the info I have... maybe that's why more women blog then men (in general) - mens blogs are pretty straight forward and to the point, womens blogs have a lot more useless details - however, are much more entertaining to read. I need to find a woman that can take that last paragraph and turn it into a novel.... they can do that you know...

I'll be back with more updates but for now just go to http://www.nickdcomedy.com/ to see more about what's going on... between twitter, facebook, the website, actual PHONECALLS, etc.... it's quite a task making sure all of your social networking bases are covered :P
